“What will the neighbours think?” That seemed to be the main concern of my parents when I was growing up.
As much as I rebelled against it at the time, and as much as that concern always felt like bondage to me, and as much as I really did see it as an example of how NOT to live, I still internalized the message that it matters VERY MUCH what other people think of me.
What I realize now is that being so concerned with what the neighbours and other people thought of us back then meant we were denying our own inner guidance and our own right to choose the best way to live and especially our own right to choose what feels good to us.
“What will the neighbours think” morphed into what will anyone and everyone – except me – think about me!!! Believing that I was constantly being judged and that it was extremely important not to be judged negatively, my connection with my True Self became tenuous at best.
While I remained in the prison of what other people think of me, my external guidance was playing at full volume and my inner guidance was often set on mute.

Subtly and stealthily, I learned to let the way other people felt about me determine how I felt about myself. Which lead to trying to get other people – especially significant others – to like me so I could like myself.
Can you imagine? Trying to get other people to like and approve of me in order to like and approve of myself!
Well, it made sense at the time. Actually, it never made sense. It just became the game I was playing. The impossible game of trying to feel good about myself while believing it matters desperately what other people think of me!
When I first heard Abraham’s guidance to not give a rip what other people think, I was thrilled at the idea but I had no clue where to begin.
I had always liked the aphorism “happiness is an inside job” and decided to figure out what that actually means. I finally – halleluiah! – started looking inside to feel good. There were shaky starts and setbacks, but my True Self continued to call me to feel good from the inside out.
I set intentions, recited affirmations and practiced new beliefs. Most importantly, I made friends with my Inner Being and decided if my Inner Being and I feel good about me, that’s enough for me.
Now, with rare exceptions, I celebrate each day that:
I Feel Good from the Inside Out and
I No Longer Need Other People or Circumstances
To Make Me Feel Good!!!

When my client arrived I had her fill out a consultation card and offered a glass of water. Music was playing softly in the background with candles lit – she mentioned how nice the space felt.
Upon reviewing the client’s consultation card she indicated her stress level was 3.5 out of 4 but didn’t know why. We started a discussion to explore this more. She revealed it was a mix of things: wedding stress/pressures from “outside noise” as well as feeling ‘blah’, lost, not knowing what she really wants when it comes to career. She also indicated on her form that she wants to achieve a sense of peace & calm from our session.
I also asked the client how she relates and refer to her spirituality; she stated she refers to God as God or Higher Power. I felt this will help our session go smoothly and resonate with her on a deeper level.
I continued to give the client a run-down of our session and reaffirmed that she has control at all times so that she will not be forced to do anything that she is not ready for and we can stop at any time if anything feels uncomfortable. She seemed to appreciate this and appeared to feel comfortable and safe.
CHAKRA ASSESSMENT WITH PENDULUM
The chakra assessment was done with my opal pendulum that has been programmed by myself. I started off by saying a prayer with the client (I also offered for her to say one to herself while I said mine but she insisted I say this for the both of us):
Dear Higher Power,
I ask you to shine your light upon me clearing away any blocks & debris to easily access the power of the greater mind. Allow me to be present & make this moment holy.
The pendulum was then used to assess each chakra over the hand, then over the client’s body to cross reference. Each chakra was assessed with three ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions: “Is the [Root] Chakra balanced? Under- Energized? Over-Energized”. The following was recorded for each:
Upon completion of the chakra assessment with the pendulum the client and I proceeded to have a discussion of the results.
The root chakra appeared to be in good balanced. When I spoke to the client about her family life and her sense of safety and security she shared she feels really good with this aspect of her life.
The sacral chakra showed signs of imbalance. The client has a good balance of intimacy in her relationship and has no concerns there however the imbalance may come from her creativity. Dance and performance plays a huge role in the client’s life. She initially shared she loves the flow of creativity and experiences joy when in the creative process of her dance jobs when she is choreographing routines and teaching in front of a class. However lately she finds herself questioning her creativity as to what capacity to use her creativity and what purpose it serves in her life. So this could be why the sacral chakra was a bit off balance.
The solar plexus also showed signs of imbalance. Upon speaking with the client I learned that she feels confident and carries a good self –esteem for the most part but often doubt creeps in and takes over as she allows outside influence effect how she feels about herself, doubt her talents and deservingness of jobs.
The heart chakra read that it was under-energized. I felt because the client was carrying some residual feelings of unforgiveness and sometimes found it hard to let go she has been carrying this within her heart chakra which resulted in her pulling back and becoming weary about who she can trust in her industry.
The throat chakra was under-energized. The client has a hard time communicating to others, often feeling she cannot talk to anyone or misunderstood when she does speak to trusted sources so she has resorted to keeping quiet, therefore holding back from speaking her truth and upset with her feelings inside. She even said “it has been going on for so long that I don’t really think about it anymore” she just got used to being quiet but this has led to her often feeling frustrated and alone. I explained that there is a healthy balance of speaking her truth and speaking from a place of love. We got further into a discussion of her “quietness” came from fear – fear of being judged, fear of being vulnerable, and fear of being seen for who she really is. She expressed that she wants to speak her truth but does not know how. I affirmed that we will release the stagnant energy circling the throat, heart, solar plexus and other areas (our discussion also helped moved things on a conscious level) through our meditation, aura clearing and chakra balancing and the client seemed happy about that. She also stated that things are starting to make sense and she can see how things were manifesting in her life because of the thoughts and “baggage” she was carrying.
The third eye appeared to be balanced. She expressed that generally she feels clear-headed, alert and has a good memory.
The crown chakra displayed to be imbalanced and this was because she resorted to “doing it alone” and not trusting and allowing a Higher Power to intervene which she herself confirmed she does believe in. One of my client’s first words to me was that she “felt lost” and “blah”. I explained that the closing off or blockage in her crown chakra would lead to thoughts and feelings of loneliness, doubt, emptiness and confusion when we don’t allow or trust that a Higher Power is guiding us. I assured that once we release any blocks and impurities in the crown chakra she would create a clearer path for the Higher Power to help and that it was okay to give permission to a higher source for help and guidance. She seemed to feel relieved and refreshed by this reminder.
Based on our conversation it was clear to see why certain chakras displayed signs of imbalance and why the client was feeling the way she was in her physical experience. She started off feeling lost, alone and “blah” and started doubting her purpose and career path. She was doubting her creativity (sacral chakra), whether she was deserving or good enough for great opportunities due to other people’s judgements and negative comments (solar plexus), carried a heavy burden of unforgiveness for certain people who criticized her and made her feel lesser than (heart chakra), she also has trouble expressing her true feelings and thoughts with others (throat chakra) which has left her feeling alone, frustrated and feeling she has to “do this alone” which has closed off her trust and opening to a Higher Power (crown chakra). The client seemed to have gained clarity and peace once we discussed why things were happening the way they were in her life due to what was happening on an energetic level.
CHAKRA BALANCING WITH STONES
As the client was already in a laying position we continued her treatment with chakra balancing with stones.
I had cleansed the stones in a glass jar with salt water under a full moon the night before and charged it for 4 hours in the sunlight.
The stones used on the client were:
I placed the stones on the corresponding chakra areas then asked the client to gently close her eyes as I talk her through a visualization.
I guided her to inhale slowly into the area of our focus and imagine the colour of the stone penetrating to the chakra. Visualizing the healing (turquoise blue) colour radiating out from the chakra into the world around her I gently affirmed a positive statement such as “I speak my truth with divine love” and encouraged her to expand her light in that corresponding area energizing her entire body. We proceeded to do this with all seven chakras. I ended with wrapping a white light around her body from crown to toe and affirming she will always be divinely protected, guided and provided for. This practice took around 10 minutes. Once we were complete I offered the client water again and told her to take her time to get up. √
I checked in with the client again and she said she was feeling good and relaxed.
I wanted to give the client something to solidify the clearing and work she did today so we agreed on two things: prayer and an affirmation.
We wrote a small prayer together calling on the help of the Higher Power which she was to practice every day in good times and bad.
The mantra also was to affirm that she is being divinely guided and that she will trust and allow the help in her life. She was instructed to do this 3x morning, day and night.
The client seemed happy about this and said she will do this.
After our session the client mentioned she felt relaxed and much lighter stating now she knows what to work on as our session brought her much clarity and she will definitely be seeing me again. A follow up email was later sent where she mentioned “Thanks so much for all your help! I'm definitely feeling lighter after yesterday's session and just trusting that God knows what's best for me and will help guide me”
As this is the start of my client shifting out of old behaviours and patterns I look forward to assisting her in her journey as she has mentioned she will be coming back to see me again.
The only thing I would change about our session is perhaps just doing the chakra assessment with the client laying down and using the pendulum over each chakra as opposed to the hand. I will also continue strengthening my ability to see auras.

Chakra and Aura case study on a 47 year old female
We discussed my clients daily routines, work, hobbies etc whilst filling out a treatment card. My client seems to have lots of positive energy and thoughts. She is feeling a little lethargic at the present time and would like to look at treatments to rebalance her chakra and energy levels.
My client practices yoga on a daily basis and looks to be both mentally and physically well, she understands the energy relationships between the chakra points, our aura properties and the balance of wellbeing when all are aligned.
My client seems to have a well and balanced diet and keeps an eye on her general wellbeing.
I asked the my client to lay in a relaxed position. I began the treatment by playing soft gentle music. I lowered the lighting levels to create an ambient atmosphere.
I lit some incense to fill the room and cleanse the treatment area. I spoke gently with my client and asked her to focus on clear and natural images.
As the client was relaxed I began laying out my pendulum, I sat upon the floor with the pendulum in front of me and began to relax and focus my energy towards the pendulum, clearing my mind and aiming positive energy at my equipment. I cleared my mind of unnecessary images and clutter and began my meditation process. Concentrating my thoughts on the music, lighting and smell filling the room.
I stood upright and calmly addressed my client, I asked her if she was relaxed and what if any thoughts had crossed her mind while she was in a relaxed state. She had focused her thoughts on a clear sandy beach and crystal clear waters. I asked her to remain focused on this and proceeded with my preparation.
I lit sage and began cleansing my aura and energy fields, once I had cleansed myself I began a smudging process around and above my client.
Once completed I lifted my pendulum and again focused my energy on the crystal within. I expressed to my client that I would begin the treatment by dowsing the chakra areas.
Starting with the root chakra I placed the pendulum above the zone, the pendulum began spinning in a clockwise direction in an equal spiral and a steady pace. I made a note of the action, steadied the pendulum and moved onto the next zone.
I placed the pendulum above the sacral zone and awaited guidance, again the pendulum moved in a clockwise direction, an equal spiral and steady pace, this was also noted and the pendulum readies for the next area.
The pendulum was again steadied and my focus directed at the pendulum. I placed the pendulum above the solar plexus and again noted the movement, clockwise direction, equal spiral and steady pace. This was noted and the pendulum readied for the next zone.
Before proceeding the next chakra point I asked the client how she was feeling and if she was still in a relaxed state. I asked her to maintain her focus on the imagery of the beach and the crystal clear waters as before.
I steadied the pendulum once again and proceeded to the next zone
The pendulum was positioned above the heart chakra and I began to observe. Again the pendulum moved as before, equal spiral, steady pace.
The pendulum was steadied, focused and placed above the throat chakra. The pendulum began slower this time but again picked up pace and began to move as per the last chakra zones checked. I made a note of this area and prepared to move onto the next zone.
Again I asked my client how she was feeling before moving onto the next area.
Placing the pendulum above the third eye chakra I focused my energy on the pendulum. The pendulum remained still and no movement was observed. I removed the pendulum from this area, cleared my focus, held the pendulum straight and began again at the third eye zone. The pendulum was steady and again no movement was observed.
I made a note of this and my mind began to cloud, this was different and I had begun to wonder what this may have been. I realized I had shifted my focus but had still yet to complete the final chakra zone.
I asked my client how she was feeling and asked her to remain focused and relaxed.
I laid the pendulum down and began to refocus my mind and shift my energy back to the pendulum.
The pendulum was placed above the crown area and observed. The pendulum began to move in the same clockwise direction and steady pace as per the previous areas. I noted this and placed the pendulum down. I began looking at my notes and had seen a pattern for the 6 chakra zones, all resulting in an equal clockwise spiral and all at the same steady pace, however the third eye zone was still with no pendulum movement observed.
I thought as a double check I would try the pendulum over the hand as described within my coursework.
Starting at the wrist – steady equal spiral, clockwise direction, steady pace.
Thumb - steady equal spiral, clockwise direction, steady pace.
Middle finger - steady equal spiral, clockwise direction, steady pace.
Small finger - steady equal spiral, clockwise direction, steady pace.
Index finger - steady equal spiral, clockwise direction, steady pace.
Ring finger – No movement observed.
Palm - steady equal spiral, clockwise direction, steady pace.
I asked my client how she was feeling, she replied that she was feeling very relaxed and comfortable.
I reviewed my notes again and in both cases the third eye chakra point there had been no movement. I referred to my study notes just to refresh my memory. So I had equal movement, direction and pace on 6 areas, they all seemed to be uniformed so assumed that the balance was equal and balanced. The third eye zone was observed as no movement at all. I assumed by this lack of movement would indicate this area was dormant or not energized.
I asked my client to relax her body and when ready, to position herself in an upright seated position. Once she had made herself comfortable we began to discuss my observations found during the treatment.
I mentioned that all of the chakra zones seemed well balanced and open apart from the third eye. I asked if it would be ok for me just to look at here for a while and to see if I could observe any aura or glow around her body.
I lit some more incense and we both positioned ourselves in a relaxed seating position. I began looking at the area in question, focusing my view just to the side of her head and began to concentrate my eyesight allowing for a slight blurring to occur. I began to make out a slight glow around the head and shoulder area but nothing really stood out in shape of any colour or different contrast within my viewing area.
I focused on this area for several minutes but no alteration to colour or size of aura was observed. I could only assume that as this was a new to me my focus would still need to be honed and practiced.
I asked my client to make herself comfortable and when ready to open her eyes.
Again I discussed my observations and made reference to my previous findings with the pendulum. I asked if she had any issues on her mind that she had been overly focusing on which may have created a blockage within her energy balance.
My Client expressed that she is a very creative person who enjoys art, reading and painting, she also has a great interest in acting and singing. She had recently applied for an audition with and acting group and was awaiting a response. During this time she had refrained from any creative expression with her art work and writing.
I assessed this conversation and surmised that this could have possibly been the cause for the lack of observed energy in the sixth chakra zone. It is after all our perception and visualization centre. I asked my client to try and shift her focus onto a more creative energy, to try and move herself back into a creative mode and to relax her mind process. By being creative and expressing her imagination this may clear any obstruction within the 6th chakra zone.
I asked her to carry out a visual meditation each morning or when time would permit and to focus on the creativity of herself, to express her inner imagination through writing, dance, colour. To maybe take a walk along the beach and imagine the clear sand and crystal clear water.
If we can allow our thoughts to clear and focus on the creative it may help with the opening of the 6th chakra zone.
I will leave my client for a few days and I have asked her to look at a meditation program, observe the natural colours of nature as she is out walking and to try and shift her focus from awaiting a response from the acting group and to try and refocus on herself and her wellbeing.
We will assess her energy zones and aura during the next treatment to observe any alteration or changes.
So as I was driving home from work I had my current favorite playlist on the car stereo and was singing away feeling pretty damn good. Suddenly as I was slowing down for the red lights ahead, a car sped past cut in front of me. I quickly slammed my brakes on and my car came to a holt. I felt my self-tense up immediately and before I knew it I’d shouted a few obscenities. I was so angry and my thoughts had started spinning out of control. I had gone from feeling happy and content to being angry and upset within approximately 30 seconds. I set off on my journey again this time I had turned down the volume on the radio and the song I had just been singing away to didn’t seem to have the same joyful vibe it had just a minute before, I was aware that I was holding the steering wheel rather firmly and I found my self muttering on about what a silly move that was.
STOP!!!! I told myself how can I suddenly now be so angry. At this point I started to observe my thoughts I wanted to know what exactly was going on so I could develop an insight and an understanding of how the thoughts and feelings controlling me I figured by watching the thoughts that my mind was just grabbing whatever it could to find sense to the situation, the thoughts I were having were repetitive and focused on the same thing. I was angry that the man had pulled out in front of me and my mind was finding more and more reasons to be mad at this man. This is not the first time I have been angry either I tend to do it a lot, I get angry with bad drivers, I get angry at rude people, late buses, my family not cleaning up after themselves. I don’t like feeling angry though, it feels like it’s eating me up from the inside.
Negative thoughts and feeling seem to have a habit of popping up at the most inconvenient times and they distract us from all the good things that are going on in our life. Before you know it our minds have taken us on a journey of negativity and dark emotions that we didn’t even know we had.
Anger is an issue for many of us, I think being aware of our anger is a great first step to learning to let it go. When we are angry It is important to try and spend a little bit of time to relax, put things into context and let it go. This is something that I am working on and I am happy to share with you just a couple of the techniques I am working on.
When your thoughts are spinning out of control stop and ask yourself what are you thinking about? Chances are you angry at something that has happened in the past, are you obsessing over something that is yet to happen? The key to stopping those negative thoughts is to be aware of them happening. Concentrate on Now! What is actually happening in this moment maybe you could try and think of a happy memory or look at a calming image, this can relax the mind which will help let that negative thought go. It’s a great method to calm and relax the mind.
When we are angry we tend to shallow breathe, which means the air is staying at the top of our lungs, deep breathing will allow more oxygen into our brains and the rest of our body, I have a couple of meditation apps on my smart phone that allow me to focus on breathing but you can just as easily download a meditation on you tube.
It is near impossible to smile and be upset at the same time, when we laugh or smile we instantly feel lighthearted and happy. Why not give it a go now. Give us one of your biggest, brightest smiles, and really mean it, that’s it. How do you feel? Do you feel joy? Did you forget about your problems for just a minute? Smiling will not make your problems go away however it will give you that much needed breather from all that negative thinking that you are subjecting yourself to.

The longer you hold on to a grudge, the more painful emotions you will experience, Forgiveness can change your life, it doesn’t mean you are erasing the past or forgetting what has happened, it doesn’t even mean the other person is going to change their behaviour. It just means that you are letting go of all the anger and pain and moving on to a better place. Forgiveness is not easy, but you can learn to do it.
Every day we have plenty of opportunities to get angry, stressed or offended. But what you're doing when you indulge these negative emotions is giving something outside yourself power over your happiness. You can choose to not let little things upset you.
